A Norfolk woman who saved up her own money to start a charity has won a very special award.

Kelly Lindsay, founder of Friend in Deed won in the Community category of Good Morning Britain's 1 Million Minutes Awards.

She works to create friendships across the generations by organising for children to visit care homes.

Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard hosted a star-studded evening to celebrate the people who went above and beyond to help combat loneliness.

The Little Visitors scheme means parents can take children of all ages into care homes and sheltered housing to play games, chat to and spend time with residents while building long-term friendships.

Founder of Friend in Deed Kelly Lindsay told KLFM there huge benefits for both generations:

"For children, it can be about confidence, it can help them develop strong and positive relationships with people and help them in their development and learning.

For older people, it's a lot about preventing loneliness for helping older people feel connected to the wider community."

We work with some great care homes but ultimately for older people, everything is a bit slower and calmer.

Then at half  10 when our Little Visitors arrive and the parents, these children just bring this innate energy and life.

We need that in older people, we can't forget about older people.
