With the King's Lynn Mart opening today, local police have told KL.FM they'll have officers there in the thick of it.

It's to make sure families know they'll be safe at the event - and that they'll deal with any issues to make sure everybody can have a nice time and enjoy themselves.

Bumper cars
Bumper cars are at the Mart again this year.

PC Michael Hopkins from King's Lynn Police says they'll be keeping an eye out:

"Anyone thinking of coming with ideas of misbehaving and not making it a family vibe - don't bother.

"We'll deal with you."

Mart
The Mart will be open throughout the half term break.

He explained why police presence at the Mart is so important:

"Any event this scale brings a lot of people - so from that perspective, we want to make sure the influx of people is kept safe.

We've had incidences in the past of antisocial behaviour and we want to make sure that doesn't happen this year."

The Mart
The King's Lynn Mart has been going for 800 years.

And there's a bit of advice for anyone heading along:

"Make sure you're staying in groups.

"Any handbags and valuables - keep them close to you, just because there's such an influx of people into the area."
