Gun crime in Norfolk has gone up according to new figures.

Home Office data show police in the county recorded 47 such crimes here in the year 2018-19.

However, in the previous year, it was 29.

The incidents include offences where a firearm has been fired, used as a blunt instrument or as a threat, as well as low-powered weapons, such as BB guns and pepper spray, alongside, shotguns, handguns and rifles. However, with the data excluding crimes involving air weapons, the real number may be higher.

It means there were five firearms offences per 100,000 population in Norfolk, which is below the national average of 11.
