A woman's body has been found in the River Ouse in West Lynn, police have revealed.

Police, firefighters, paramedics and the coastguard are all believed to have been at the scene throughout the day.

Earlier today, police revealed they had been called after receiving reports of a 'concern for safety', and have now confirmed a woman's body has been found.

A spokesman for Norfolk Constabulary has said:

"Police can confirm they have recovered the body of a woman from the River Ouse in West Lynn this morning.

"Officers in King’s Lynn were called at 10.39am this morning to a concern for safety and recovered the body of a woman. Police are treating the death as unexplained and making enquiries around identification.

"A post-mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the cause of death.

Hunstanton Coastguard Rescue Team and Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service confirmed teams were called to the scene, but were unable to provide any more details.

A spokesman for East of England Ambulance Service said:

"An ambulance, an ambulance officer vehicle and four Hazardous Area Response Team vehicles were called to Docks Cross Bank Road, Port Of King's Lynn shortly before 11am this morning (March 31) following reports of a woman in the water. Sadly, despite the best efforts of all involved including Police and Coastguard colleagues, the woman had died."
