Fenland District Council's COVID-19 response hub will remain open for the Easter bank holidays to help support residents in extra need of help during the coronavirus outbreak.

Anyone needing support can call 01354 654321 from 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, and 9am to 12noon on Saturdays. The dedicated helpline will also be open from 9am to 4pm on Good Friday and Easter Monday.

Requests for help can also be emailed to: covid19@fenland.gov.uk

The response hub brings together a network of Council, community and voluntary efforts to support Fenland's most vulnerable residents during the pandemic.

It can help people with food shopping, collecting medicines and other supplies, and friendly phone calls for anyone feeling lonely, by providing details of local voluntary services which can help them. It can also provide information on coronavirus advice and guidance.

The hub also liaises with other statutory, voluntary and community organisation partners to ensure other needs, including health and social care, are met as quickly as possible.

Cllr Chris Boden, Leader of Fenland District Council, said:

"We are committed to doing whatever is needed to help people directly and to support our communities, particularly our most vulnerable members of society.

"Our COVID-19 response hub supports this by coordinating volunteer efforts, providing support for isolated and shielded people and signposting people to practical help. In its first week it responded to more than 600 calls from residents. If you or someone you know needs help please get in touch on 01354 654321 or at covid19@fenland.gov.uk."
