Message from King's Lynn Mayor

The Mayor of King's Lynn and West Norfolk is calling on us not to break lockdown over the Easter Bank Holiday Weekend.

Geoff Hipperson has released a message asking us to respect the rules:

"Over the last 11 months I have been privileged to serve the people of the borough of King's Lynn and West Norfolk.  I have had the opportunity to visit many areas of the community and have been heartened by the work ethic, generosity and enthusiasm from all the people I have met.

"I would like to personally acknowledge and thank the outstanding commitment and care demonstrated by our NHS and emergency services, the police, the fire service, the borough and county council staff who ensure our services are maintained and those reaching out to help the vulnerable members of our community.  Also, all those people who are going the extra mile keeping us supplied with essential goods and the volunteers who are helping those of us who are less able. Finally, the people who would like to be involved helping but must, by necessity, stay at home.  This is a monumental community effort.

"As the Easter bank holiday approaches, I am sure there will be temptation for some to get out to enjoy our beautiful countryside and coastline.  Please don't.  The guidelines which have been put in place are our best hope of defeating this virus and returning to normality as soon as possible.  Please consider others before thinking of breaking the rules this weekend.  Keep yourselves safe, stay home, save lives and protect our NHS. Thank you."
