Tablets help patients keep in touch

Inpatients receiving care from Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT) are being given tablets so that they can keep in touch with loved ones during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Trust has issued around 50 Samsung tablets to service users in inpatient wards across both counties to help them stay connected using video calls.

The technology has been well received so far, with patients saying it has helped to reassure them while family members, friends or carers are unable to visit.

Diane Hull, Chief Nurse at NSFT, said:

"We know how difficult it can be to spend time on a ward when visiting is restricted, and hope that lending our service users tablets so that they can keep in touch with their loved ones will make a real difference during their admission.

"Staying connected is vitally important as it helps support emotional wellbeing. It can also help reduce anxiety and stress by taking service users away from their current situation and giving them the opportunity to share happy memories or talk about their plans for the future."
