Liam Marshall has been appointed captain of Wisbech Town for the new season.

Beckham Kennelly has been confirmed as his deputy.

23-year-old Liam was vice-captain last season and he was very happy with his promotion: He said:

"I am delighted to be named club captain. Wisbech is a great club and it’s a real honour for me. We have a great set of lads ready for the season ahead alongside the coaches and gaffer who I’m sure will get the absolute best out of us as a group."

Commenting on his new skipper, Manager Brett Whaley said:

"Liam was the obvious choice for me to step up as captain. He was vice-captain last season and is experienced at playing at this level. He’s a popular and vocal part of our dressing room, so I’m confident he’ll do a great job."

Beckham replaces Liam as vice-captain and said:

"I am thrilled to be named vice-captain; it's not something I was expecting. I still have a lot to learn and I'm sure I will in the coming months. I'm looking forward to the start of the season as we have a great set of lads and the management to really push us on."

Brett said:

"I think it’s a good progression for Beckham, and he’s shown he has the character to become a captain in the future. His attitude and approach has been spot on since I came into the club and I think this role will help his development."

Meanwhile, two new face will be joining The Fenmen in the form of Ryan Pearson from Swaffham Town and Andre Williams from Peterborough Sports and Danny Draper makes his return after a spell at Bedford Town.
