Police in Wisbech want to trace 3 men who saved an elderly woman from muggers.

The lady was walking along Park Road on Sunday morning when two men approached her, raised a fist and demanded she hand over her money.

But as she was giving them her purse 3 men came to her rescue, the first 2 chasing the robbers away while the third made sure the woman was alright.

But detectives say the three heroes didn't stay around for very long and now want to contact them as witnesses to what they are calling the cowardly crime.

Detective Sergeant Matt Swash, who is investigating, said: "I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this robbery and particularly the three men who helped the lady, as they could have very important information.
"This was a cowardly crime, which left the victim shaken and upset, and I am keen to trace those responsible. Any information, no matter how small it may seem, could prove vital to this investigation."
Anyone with information should contact Det Sgt Swash, at March Police Station, on 101, of Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
